My brother, Bob, visiting from Atlanta over Thanksgiving holidays |
A wonderful Thanksgiving and my birthday were shared with my brother, Bob, who visited us from Atlanta. Overlooking the ICW from Morgan Creek was a view we savored as we enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner. No muss! No fuss! No leftovers!

Not our pet. Not our boat. Found him on fuel dock. |

Reward for a walk on the beach |
Strolling Charleston, like tourists, was pleasurable as we enjoyed balmy weather canopied by a cloudless azure sky. Leisurely poking around in galleries and chatting with artists was delightful. We do that only when we're "somewhere else". We find that when we're "home" and surrounded by our local culture, we tend to not take advantage of them. We relished Bob's visit who encouraged us to see our city through the eyes of an out-of-towner.

This time of year is my favorite season to be at the beach. This is also one of the best times to see an abundance of Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins and to observe them strand feeding. This is a process of feeding where they drive fish and other marine life onto the marsh beds and hurl themselves onto the shore to feed while being out of the water. The dolphins always come out of the water on their right side so the teeth on that side eventually get worn down because of the amount of mud the dolphin consumes along with the fish. I’ve seen it only once but what an amazing sight.

We're very happy to be back in our church. This morning we had a guest pastor, Brady Boyd, from Colorado Springs', New Life Church. His teaching encouraged introspection and provided a great message for us to take home and use for our discussions. There's always boat work to do--just has homes on terra firma need maintenance--but we're seeking volunteer opportunities in the church and community to provide balance in our lives for the next five months while we're here.
